Opening March 5th in Portland at Hellion & March 13th in Tokyo at hpgrp Gallery. Hellions 1st annual Ema Show. In Japan Ema are small wooden plaques on which Shinto worshippers write their prayers or wishes. The ema are then left hanging up at the shrine, where the kami (spirits or gods) receive them. We sent Ema fro...m various Japanese shrines to over 50 artists from around the world to customize.
